When you have a lot of work to do, or you are just bored out of your mind, even small distractions can help you get through the day, such as an animated desktop companion.
These screenmates come in all shapes and sizes, and some are more useful than others. They include animals, such as sheep, cats, penguins and even ants, as well as humanoid characters.
For the most part, they simply move around your desktop and keep you company while you are getting stuff done. If you are having a hard time staying focused, taking a short break to watch a digital ant make its way across your screen may be just what you need.
Of course, you shouldn’t expect your screenmate to be particularly useful, much like a real-life pet. However, if all you want is a desktop companion while working on your PC, you may find the perfect one in the list below.
