So as you may know so far, Burnout is all about high speed races where you destroy your opponents vehicles and you obtain boosts. This game is no exception to that rule and the boost meter in this game is primarily orange but when you obtain a full boots meter the flame turns blue, a boost know as the “Supercharge Boost”. Now lets talk more about game play, there are three modes: World Tour, Record breaker and Multiplayer. The world tour is divided in seven series and you begin with the classic series and eng the tour with the dominator and you modify them by earning dominator point, earning gold medals, takedowns, etc. and each series has 9 event types and this again can consist of events such as: race, burning lap, road rage, eliminator and grand prix and of course you have challenges too.
In Record Breaker you basically set a record in any event or any challenge and after that you can go again and see if you can beat it, it seems like something that the developers just wanted to put it there, not something that was necessarily needed. And the Multiplayer mode has two ways that you can play: 2 players splitscreen or 4 player party play.
The graphics of the game seem a bit downgraded but you can see that there was more time spent on how the cars look and feel which is a nice touch and the way the game sounds is top notch, the cars sound good, explosions even better and you really feel like you interact with the environment. To sum it all up, we highly recommend this game if you own a PlayStation 2 and want to play a good authentic destruction racing game.
